Ready to Book? Here’s What to Know Before You Do.

October 15, 2026

If you are reading this, you are probably pretty close to booking. Maybe you have been thinking about it for a while. Maybe someone recommended Evergreen specifically. Maybe you found your way here through a search and something about what you read felt like it was describing exactly what you have been looking for.

Whatever brought you here, this post is designed to make the next step as easy as possible. Here is everything you need to know to book with confidence, including what sessions are available, how to choose the right one, what to expect when you arrive, and what makes Evergreen different enough to be worth the drive to Stanwood.

What Sessions Are Available

Evergreen Wellness Spa offers deep tissue massage sessions at several lengths, and the length you choose matters more than most people realize going in.

A 90-minute session is the minimum I offer for the kind of integrated, whole-body work that produces meaningful and lasting results. The reasoning is physiological: the nervous system takes 20 to 30 minutes to genuinely shift into the parasympathetic state where the deepest work is possible. A 60-minute session uses nearly half its time on that transition. A 90-minute session completes the transition and gives real time to work in the state that follows. This is my most commonly booked session and a great starting point for new clients.

A 2-hour session is where I can address the whole body thoroughly, use multiple modalities in proper sequence, and give the nervous system enough time to reach the deeper levels of regulation that produce the qualitative shift clients describe as feeling like something actually changed rather than just temporarily feeling better. For anyone with chronic patterns, significant held tension, or a nervous system that tends to stay vigilant, this is the session I most often recommend.

A 3-hour session is for significant resets. Clients who book 3-hour sessions are typically dealing with something that has built up over a long time, or they are deliberately investing in the kind of deep, whole-system work that produces the most durable change. These sessions are genuinely different in kind from shorter ones, not just in degree.

Each session incorporates whatever combination of modalities best serves what your body is showing me that day. Deep tissue work, cupping, hot stones, aromatherapy, and the vibroacoustic InHarmony table are all part of my toolkit, and I draw on them in response to what I find rather than from a predetermined menu. You do not have to choose between them. I choose based on what you need.

How to Choose the Right Session Length

If you are new to Evergreen, here is the honest guidance I would give a friend.

If you are dealing with something specific, a chronic pain pattern, significant held tension, a nervous system that has been in overdrive for a while, book a 2-hour session for your first appointment. It gives me enough time to assess the whole system, address more than just the most obvious spots, and actually start to shift the pattern rather than just relieving the surface expression of it. You will leave understanding your body better than you did when you arrived, and we will have a clearer picture of what the ongoing work should look like.

If you are primarily looking for a genuine reset and deep relaxation rather than addressing something specific, a 90-minute session is a good starting point, though a 2-hour session will produce a noticeably deeper quality of regulation if you are open to it.

If you have been dealing with something chronic for a long time and you have been in that cycle of temporary relief followed by the same pattern reasserting itself, book 2 hours minimum. What you have been experiencing is likely the result of session length being the limiting factor, and the right approach requires time to do it properly.

How to Book

Booking at Evergreen is simple — just head to evergreenwellnessspa.com to choose your session length, pick a date and time, and complete your booking. You’ll receive a confirmation and any pre-appointment information by email.

If you have questions before you book, the easiest way to reach me is through the contact form on the website. I respond quickly and I genuinely prefer a five-minute conversation before your first appointment to having you arrive uncertain about what to expect. If you’re not sure what session length is right for what you’re dealing with, describe what you’ve been experiencing and I’ll give you an honest recommendation.

Did You Know? Evergreen Wellness Spa is located in Stanwood, Washington, serving clients from Stanwood, Camano Island, Arlington, Marysville, and the surrounding areas of western Washington. Stanwood is approximately 60 miles north of Seattle, easily accessible from I-5 via Highway 532. For clients making the drive from further away, the longer session lengths make that drive particularly worthwhile.

What to Expect When You Arrive

When you arrive for your first appointment, here is what will happen.

We will spend a few minutes talking before anything starts. I will ask about what you have been experiencing, what brought you in, whether there are specific areas you want addressed, and whether there is anything about your health history I should know. This is not a formality. The information you give me in this conversation shapes the entire session, and the more specific you can be, the more precisely I can build the work around what your body actually needs.

You will then be given time to settle onto the table, undressed to your comfort level, and draped with a sheet and blanket. The room is warm and the table is comfortable. If you have any questions or concerns before we begin, that is the right time to raise them.

The session will begin with the vibroacoustic table running, which starts the nervous system shift before the hands-on work begins. From there, the session unfolds in response to what I find, moving through the areas that need attention, using whatever tools are appropriate for the tissue I am working with.

At the end of the session, I will give you a few minutes to come back to yourself before we talk briefly about what I found and what I would suggest for ongoing work if that is relevant.

Insider Tip from Amy: The most common thing people tell me after their first session here is that they wish they had come sooner. I hear this constantly, especially from people who have been dealing with something for months or years and found their way to Evergreen after other things did not fully work. If you have been on the fence, the thing that is keeping you there is probably not a good reason to stay there. The session is worth it. The drive is worth it. And your body has been waiting longer than it should have had to.

What Makes Evergreen Different

The most significant differences between Evergreen and most massage practices in the area are session length, the integration of multiple modalities, and the clinical philosophy underlying the work.

On session length: I specialize in 90-minute, 2-hour, and 3-hour sessions because these are the lengths at which the work I do can produce the results it is capable of. This is not about charging more for more time. It is about the physiological reality that meaningful nervous system regulation and whole-body tissue work require time that shorter sessions simply do not provide.

On integrated modalities: the combination of deep tissue work, cupping, hot stones, aromatherapy, vibroacoustic therapy, and Polarity-informed energy work, used in response to what the body is showing me rather than as a fixed menu, produces outcomes that single-modality work consistently does not reach.

On clinical philosophy: I think about every body as a connected system rather than a collection of separate complaints. The neck that hurts is connected to the upper back which is connected to the hips which is connected to how the nervous system is running the whole show. Addressing the system produces more durable results than addressing the symptom, and that is the orientation that shapes every session I do.

What the First Few Sessions Look Like

For new clients dealing with something specific, here is a realistic picture of what the first few sessions tend to look like.

The first session is partly treatment and partly assessment. I am addressing what you came in with, but I am also getting to know your body, its patterns, its tendencies, its responses. By the end of the first session, I have a much clearer picture of what your body needs and what the ongoing work should look like, and I will share that with you.

The second and third sessions build on the first. The body remembers. The nervous system starts to expect the shift rather than being surprised by it, which means it gets there faster and goes deeper. Patterns that required the whole session to address in the first appointment start to release more readily. New layers become accessible that weren’t available before.

By the fourth or fifth session, most clients dealing with something chronic start to describe a qualitative shift in their baseline. Not just feeling better after the session, but their starting point between sessions being different. The level of tension they are carrying day to day is lower. Sleep is different. The thing that brought them in is no longer as central to their experience.

What to Expect If You Are Coming From a Different Therapist

If you have been seeing another massage therapist and you are coming to Evergreen for the first time, a few things are worth knowing.

The work here will probably feel different from what you are used to. More responsive. More attentive to what the body is showing rather than executing a predetermined sequence. More interested in the whole system than the presenting complaint.

If you have been in a pattern of good sessions that help temporarily without producing lasting change, the combination of longer session lengths and a whole-system approach often breaks that pattern in a way that clients describe as finally getting to the root of it.

If you have questions about whether the transition makes sense for where you are right now, reach out and I am happy to have that conversation honestly before you book anything. The goal is always to find the right fit for what you need. Reach out through evergreenwellnessspa.com.
